Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews might be one of the biggest free agents available this summer.
Jonathan Toews, 37, has not played a game of NHL hockey since he last wore a Blackhawks jersey in April 2023, but the three time Stanley Cup Champ is apparently nearing an NHL comeback.
Former Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews could be back in the NHL next season.
The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun reported on Thursday that Toews had reached out to his agent to inform him he is 100 percent committed to returning to the NHL next season.
Jonathan Toews reached out to his agent Pat Brisson yesterday to inform him he's 100 percent committed to coming back to the NHL next season. Just spoke with Brisson, who says he will start taking calls from NHL teams on Toews now leading up to July 1.

Toews, 37, last played in…
One would imagine Toews instantly joins the list of the top free agents heading to the open market this summer.
While Toews has not played a game of hockey in a few years, the former Hawk seems to have gotten his body healthy, and Blackhawks fans have to be excited about his potential comeback.
It seems unlikely Toews' NHL return will include the Blackhawks, that almost seems less likely then a Patrick Kane return at this point. Still Hawks fans are excited about the opportunity to watch Toews return to the NHL—even if it is in another jersey.
Toews has done it all in his career. The 2006 3rd overall pick has won three Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe, a Selke Trophy, a Mark Messier Leadership Award and two gold medals at the Winter Olympics.
In 1,067 NHL games, Toews has registered 372 goals and 883 points in the regular season and 119 points in 137 playoff games.
While Toews might be 37 years old, he might still be a good option as a second or third line center on a team looking to contend.
I think all Blackhawks fans are excited about the opportunity of watching Jonathan Toews continue his career healthy and competitively. Toews was once considered on par with Sidney Crosby, it would be nice to see the future Hall of Famer back in the NHL.
No matter what team Toews signs with, it will be exciting to see him potentially return to the United Center. His last game there was a night to remember.
