With the offseason nearing as the Stanley Cup Playoffs come to a close, a new group of players will be announced as the Class of 2025 for the Hockey Hall of Fameāand a former Blackhawks defenseman could highlight the group.
On Tuesday, June 24 the Hockey Hall of Fame selection committee will announce the 2025 inductees for the Hall. The committee consists of some 18 individuals tasked with selecting a maximum of four men and two women players each year as well as potential additional builders or referees.
The Blackhawks celebrated Jeremy Roenick's induction into the Hall of Fame throughout 2024, and now another Blackhawk could be honored in 2025.
Duncan Keith should be a lock for the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Duncan Keith was drafted in the second round of the 2002 NHL Draft. The longtime Blackhawks assistant captain spent 16 seasons with the Hawks from 2005 until 2021.
During his time with Chicago, Keith won three Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe Trophy and two Norris Trophies. Keith spent the majority of his career as a Blackhawk before ending his career with the Edmonton Oilers in 2021-22.
Throughout his entire tenure in Chicago, Keith registered 625 points in 1192 NHL Games, including 105 goals. His Blackhawks career spanned from 22 to 37 and he averaged 24:56 minutes of ice time.
Keith also won two Olympic gold medals with Canada, one in 2010 and another in 2014.
Duncan Keith had one of the best playoff performances in NHL history.
In 2015, Duncan Keith was awarded the Conn Smythe after he helped will the Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup. Keith averaged an impressive 31:07 minutes of ice time throughout the 23 game postseason for Chicago and he registered three goals and 21 points in the playoffs.
Besides just Keith, there are a handful of other notable first-year eligible players for the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2025.
Guys like Joe Thornton, Carey Price, Ryan Getzlaf, Zdeno Chara and Tuukka Rask all have strong cases for the Hall of Fame, but arguably Keith might have had the most success of the entire group.
