The Chicago Blackhawks are one of the most iconic teams in all of sports. An original six team, six time Stanley Cup Champs, and so many hall of famers over the years—the Blackhawks have a rich history.

Part of that rich history comes the celebration between the players and the home fans each and every time the Blackhawks score a goal. In football, players celebrate after just about every play, whether its a sack or a big first down. In hockey, that celebration is saved for a goal helping to give your team a lead or helping to claw your way back into a close game.

At the United Center, the Blackhawks have arguably the most iconic goal song across the entire NHL with the Fratellis' "Chelsea Dagger."

The song was released in August 2006 by the Fratellis, a Scottish rock band. Chicago adopted the tune as a goal song in 2008-09 season, intertwining it with the rise of the Blackhawks Kane and Toews Dynasty.

The Chicago Blackhawks goal song continues to haunt opposing teams over 15 years later.

Few goal songs work as well as "Chelsea Dagger." Throughout the Blackhawks' dynasty, the catchy tune taunted opposing teams' fans both inside the hockey rink and around the sporting world.

The song was originally picked by the Blackhawks from a pool of candidates used ahead of the regular season in 2008; other candidates considered included Blur's "Song 2," "Tick Tick Boom" by the Hives and the Ting Tings' "Keep Your Head," according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The song has been the consensus goal song for many years, and it wasn't until just recently that fans questioned whether or not a change would be coming. With the Blackhawks turning the page on the Toews and Kane era in Chicago in 2023, fans questioned whether the goal song would go with it.

Speaking with Charlie Roumeliotis on the Blackhawks Talk Podcast ahead of the 2023-24 NHL Season, Blackhawks president of business operations Jaime Faulkner said the franchise had no plans to change the goal song.

"I can say, this year, that is our goal song," Faulkner said. "It's not even on our roadmap. We are not talking at all about changing the goal song. I agree with you, it's weird that that's part of the conversation. But nope, we will be the same goal song and hopefully we hear it a ton this year."

Blackhawks fans have been dancing and cheering along to "Chelsea Dagger" for many years, and as the years go by it will be exciting to watch the soundtrack of the Blackhawks dynasty become the backdrop of the next generation in Connor Bedard, Frank Nazar and company.
