Ideal deals for the trade assets the Chicago Blackhawks have to offer

With the NHL trade deadline just a few days away, lets have a bit of fun exploring possible moves the Hawks could make prior to this Friday's deadline.

Lets Get Fun:

Boston receives

Chicago receives

Jason Dickinson

David Pastrnak

Frank Nazar

Brad Marchand

Kevin Korchinski

2025 1st round pick *Chicago's pick*

2026 2nd round pick

Now we're cooking with gas! I hinted in my last article that I would have some fun with these mock trades and here we go. For the Hawks this is simple. Pastrnak is an elite player. He is exactly the caliber of player that we've been searching for to compliment Connor Bedard. He is signed long term (through 2030) so he would be an essential part of the Hawks returning to contention. Trading for Pastrnak also relieves some of the pressure to go out and sign Mitch Marner or Mikko Rantanen this summer. Marchand, though near the end of his career, is still an elite player, who if the Hawks resign would be a huge help to building a winning culture and a deeply tough and competitive team.

For Boston, this would signal that they believe that a full rebuild is needed. Boston is short on young talent and this trade lands them some elite young talent. They acquire Kevin Korchinski, a future top 4 offensive defenseman and Frank Nazar who projects to be a very solid, if not elite top 6 forward down the road. They also land Jason Dickinson who is the most Boston Bruin-iest player to not have played for the Boston Bruins. The biggest piece for Boston however, is acquiring the Blackhawks unprotected first round pick this summer, which will be a top 4 selection. They could use that to get a player like Michael Misa, or James Hagens or Matthew Shaefer to replace the star power they are losing by trading their two franchise stalwarts. This trade would allow the Bruins to accelerate the beginning of a rebuild, while also keeping Charlie McAvoy.

Vancouver receives

Chicago receives

Jason Dickinson

Elias Pettersson

Tyler Bertuzzi

2026 1st round pick (top 5 protected)

2025 2nd round pick

This one sees the Hawks taking a chance on a guy who has badly underperformed this season. There are serious questions now about whether giving Pettersson that contract was a huge mistake. In this scenario, Kyle Davidson banks on Pettersson needing to get out of Vancouver, and finding his form that earned him that massive contract in the first place. If he is able to do that, then this is a huge win for the Hawks, who get a terrific playmaking center to compliment Connor Bedard and the young players in the organization. Vancouver meanwhile gets two very solid NHL players in Dickinson and Bertuzzi, along with two high quality draft picks which they can either use, or flip if they wish to try to remain competitive.
