Winter has arrived in Chicago! Hopefully, you all had a safe morning commute. The Blackahwks are back in town after a successful six-game road trip. They will have today off before returning to practice ice tomorrow.

Blackhawks Chirps

  • The Blackhawks had far from their best game in Detroit and still found a way to beat the Red Wings 5-1. The power play was great, and Arvid Soderblom was even better. The Blackhawks will have eight of their next nine games on home ice, so they can really build some momentum heading into December.
  • Duncan Keith is in Toronto for tonight’s Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He and the rest of his induction class dropped the puck ahead of last night’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Carolina Hurricanes.
  • The Rockford IceHogs snapped their four-game losing streak by beating the Iowa Wild 3-2. Captain Brent Seney led the way with a goal and two assists. He assisted on Landon Slaggert’s game-opening goal and Dominic Toninato’s game-winning power-play goal. Kevin Korchinski had two assists to give him 10 on the season. Stanislav Berezhnoy made 28 saves for the win. He’s 3-0-0 with a 1.98 goals-against average and .941 save percentage to start his AHL career.
  • Roman Kantserov scored his 16th goal of the season yesterday. We are just going to reserve a spot for his goal highlights every morning.
  • On this date in 1962, Glenn Hall’s amazing iron man streak of 502nd consecutive games came to an end. It was the first game the Hall of Fame netminder missed since opening night of the 1955-56 season when he was a member of the Red Wings. Dennis DeJordy started in his place and made 33 saves to beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-1.
  • Blackhawks Birthday Roll Call, Nov. 10: Jacques Toupin, Wayne Maki, Duane Wylie, and Jeff Larmer.

NHL Chirps

  • According to Elliotte Friedman, the NHL is seeking an agreement with the CHL to allow one 19-year-old player to the AHL for each team. This change could come as soon as next season, after it was rumored that it would happen this year.
  • Former Blackhawks goaltender Malcom Subban is heading to Czechia. He signed a contract for the remainder of the season with HC Dynamo of Extraliga.
  • Another former Blackhawk, Corey Perry, is having quite the start with the Los Angeles Kings. He scored his seventh goal in only 10 games on Sunday. He tied the legendary Gordie Howe for the most goals through 10 games by a player at least 40 years old.
  • It has been a foregone conclusion for at least two years that Gavin McKenna would be the number one overall pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. He made the move to the NCAA by joining Penn State during the offseason. He only has four goals in his first 12 games, but has recorded 10 assists. Some feel he’s busting out, while others think he’s rounding out his game. The Athletic’s top draft analyst, Scott Wheeler, broke down the complicated start to the prospect’s college season.
  • If you’ve followed me for some time, you know that I love professional wrestling almost as much as I love hockey. Those two worlds collided over the weekend. All Elite Wrestling star Claudio Castagnoli got New Jersey Devils fans excited when he helped put a poor soul in a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey through a table.
  • NHL Birthday Roll Call, Nov. 10: Billy Boucher, Allan Murray, Bill Sutherland, Al Smith, Don Saleksi, Bob Stewart, Ken Holland, Ed Ward, Cale Hulse, Mike Leclerc, Kristian Huselius, and Luca Del Bel Belluz.
