2 Blackhawks To Watch For Fantasy Hockey Next Season
I will begin to sound like a broken record, but I will reiterate, the Blackhawks are not a contender, and don't really look strong going into the new season. Many standing predictions are coming out every week from analysts, writers and fans and unfortunately, the Blackhawks seem to be a consensus last place team.
With that being said, there are a couple of Blackhawks players that will be solid pickups for your fantasy team this season, and I'm going to talk about two players that would be smart choices to select in your draft.
Seth Jones
I've harped on how weak Jones' defensive play may be, but when he came to Chicago he was looked at to be an offensive producer and he did just that in his first season. Jones had 5 goals and 46 assists last season with the Blackhawks, and will likely put up good numbers in the 2022-23 season. No, the Hawks don't have enough firepower for him to have a career year (most likely) but a defenseman that can put up 50 points? I would be all over that
I took Jones last season for my team, and it panned out quite well. He can put up plenty of points on the powerplay, as I fully expect him too. Over the last few seasons, Jones always gets a good amount of assists. Since 2016, he hasn't had a season below 30 assists. Barring injuries, I would guess he's putting up under 10 goals but around 50 assists.
The Hawks are gonna lean on Jones even more than they did last season, which will lead to more points. It's simple math, and I think Jones is a very smart choice.
