Blackhawks' Deals Will Now Start After Busy Sunday
Sunday, as expected, has been a busy day for General Managers league wide. Ivan Barbashev went to the Golden Knights for recent 1st round pick Zach Dean. Dadanov goes to Dallas for Gurianov. It also now looks like we have a winner in the Timo Meier bidding war: The New Jersey Devils.
If you look at the way the deals are happening today one thing is now clear: All eyes are on the Blackhawks. When will the Patrick Kane to New York deal be finalized? How close is Sam Lafferty to changing teams? Is Jake McCabe packaged in that or will he be dealt to a seperate team? Is Max Domi going to stick it out and re-sign or will Kyle Davidson capitalize on his strong play of late?
With the big names finding their new homes, it is now Chicagos' turn and Kyle Davidson you now have less than 5 days to work those phones. My expectation as stated throughout the week is that Davidson will use the combo of McCabe and Lafferty to acquire the best return.
Max Domi is more of an interesting player to me, because we do need scoring and a locker room leader next season. I know that he would likely command a 2nd round return as based on the Nino Niederreiter deal (2024 2nd) today, but maybe he is the one holdover we need to keep.
It's an exciting time for any fan of the NHL this close to the trade deadline as deals are now happening rapidly, but especially for our Chicago Blackhawks whom look to have a very busy next couple of days.
