3 Blackhawks players who are worth adding to your fantasy hockey lineup

The Chicago Blackhawks won’t have that hopeless vibe surrounding them in 2024-25, so a few players may be of value to your fantasy hockey team.

The Chicago Blackhawks looked more like a team to claim a player off waivers than they did to actually make a selection on draft day in fantasy hockey last season. That will primarily be the case again this season, albeit to a far lesser extent.

There are a few players worth taking at the back end of your fantasy hockey draft, namely guys like Tyler Bertuzzi and Petr Mrazek. But there are others who should warrant strong consideration in the mid-to-late rounds, with the first player on this list who should be slated to roll in the early-to-mid rounds.

Connor Bedard

Connor Bedard found himself in the worst possible situation last season and he ended up playing good hockey for what was otherwise a historically bad team. 61 points and 22 goals in 68 games was a magnificent start, but with a more talented team and knowledge of what it’s like to play in the NHL, Bedard should put together an even better season.

Overall, ESPN has projected Bedard to score 34 times and log 76 total points, with 24 of them coming on the power play. These aren’t by any means outstanding stats, but Bedard looks like a solid or even a spectacular mid-round pick.

Teuvo Teravainen

Teuvo Teravainen wasn’t the star player in Carolina and he won’t be the star player in Chicago, as that role has landed with Connor Bedard. Still, Teravainen has shown us he can bust through the 20-goal mark rather easily, something he proved again last season when he found the net 25 times.

Although he’s not the star player in the Windy City, don’t expect anyone to overshadow Teravainen to the same extent. That said, it’s fair that ESPN is clocking him in at a projected 65 points and 24 goals, plus 16 power play points. He should be available in the mid-to-late rounds, meaning he’ll provide outstanding depth to your fantasy hockey team.

Seth Jones

If there’s one sleeper in Chicago this season, it’s at the blue line with Seth Jones. Last season, he didn’t have a great year, but it also wasn’t bad, with eight goals, 31 points, and nine points on the man advantage.

Jones should come back stronger in 2024-25, along with the rest of the Blackhawks, meaning even more output. His floor should at least be what ESPN is projecting for him - 32 points, nine goals, and 12 power play points. There’s a good chance other players will “forget” about Jones on draft day, and if they do, make sure to take the liberty of snagging him in the latter rounds.
