Kane Rumors Galore

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period states that Patrick Kane trade discussions are underway, with the Dallas Stars being among the interested in him. Pagnotta reiterated that nothing is imminent, and it’s likely the trade discussions will move well into the season.

"“This could stretch out into the seasons but discussions are underway and they are ongoing as far as I know.”"

Kane has one year left on his contract, and has been involved in plenty of rumors since the team entered a rebuilding stage. His goal scoring ability will attract teams, along with his leadership and playmaking abilities. He could easily fetch two top prospects and some draft capital.

Five Blackhawks Representing at World Juniors

Wyatt Kaiser, Landon Slaggert, Dominic James, Victor Stjernborg and Ethan Del Mastro will all represent their home country at the 2022 IIHF World Juniors. Del Mastro was a late addition due to an injury to Daemon Hunt. Unfortunately, Blackhawks' 13th overall selection Frank Nazar did not make the cut for Team USA. The overall impression, though, is that he will be on the 2023 roster.

Dominic James - Team USA (2022 6th Round, 173rd Overall)

Landon Slaggert - Team USA (2020 3rd Round, 79th Overall)

Wyatt Kaiser - Team USA (2020 3rd Round,, 81st Overall)

Victor Stjernborg - Team Sweden (2021 4th Round, 108th Overall)

Ethan Del Mastro - Team Canada (2021 4th Round, 105th Overall)

Kane and Toews are both Gone?

Kevin Paul DuPont of the Boston Globe writes: “It increasingly looks and sounds as if the Blackhawks will move longtime franchise pieces Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, each about to enter the final year of their megadeals that carry $10.5M cap hits”

DuPont lists Anaheim and Detroit as teams that could potentially look into bringing Kane in, while being able to offer a 2-3 year extension. It’ll be interesting to see what the Hawks will get in return for both stars, and legends of the franchise. It’ll be a sad day if/when they’re dealt, but if the future depends on it, I’m all for it.
