The Blackhawks have signed RW Buddy Robinson.

Robinson has signed a 1 year, 2 way contract with the team. The NHL value is $750k while the AHL value is $475k. Robinson is considered an "AHL Veteran" that will likely get a shot in the NHL with the Hawks next season. At 6'6, 231 pounds, Robinson brings some incredible size and physical play to the depth charts. At 30 years old, he has 53 games of NHL experience with 9 points. In 490 games in the AHL, Robinson has 120 goals and 139 assists for 259 points with 461 PIMS added.

Robinson was undrafted, grinding his way through the league following solid performances in NCAA, the ECHL and the AHL before earning his first opportunity in the big leagues with the Ottawa Senators in 2015-16. Over the next few seasons, Robinson bounced around teams trying to get his chance in the NHL. Last season, the Ducks gave Robinson 32 games in the NHL, where he put up a goal and 5 assists. He had 9 points in 28 games in the AHL last season as well, so he definitely had what some would consider a career year. Although he's likely going to bounce between Chicago and Rockford all season, Robinson is an incredibly smart pickup going into next season, and I predict he could play 50-60 games and put up 15-20 points in the teams bottom 6.

It'll be fun to see Robinson get his shot with the Blackhawks, I have immediately become a huge fan of him, as he falls under the "low risk, high reward" contract category I've been pushing for the last month or so. He has a really good chance of making the team right out of training camp and for a rebuilding team, he's a perfect addition.
