Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks will be on national television plenty of times this season
They will be on a fair amount this season after ESPN and TNT announced their national television schedules.
The television experience for the Chicago Blackhawks will be different this season. The Hawks have a new play-by-play voice in Rick Ball.
The Blackhawks will also be on a new regional sports network starting October 1st. The Hawks will go from NBC Sports Chicago to the Chicago Sports Network.
The joint venture with the Chicago Bulls and White Sox is still being ironed out with cable and satellite carriers on what package CHSN will be a part of and what channel it will be on.
Blackhawks fans will be able to catch a good amount of games on national television.
ESPN and TNT announced their national television broadcast schedule and the Blackhawks will be featured 15 times this season.
The Hawks will be a part of ESPN's opening-night tripleheader on October 8th when they play the Utah Hockey Club. It will be Utah's first game in Salt Lake City after relocating from Arizona and rebranding from the Coyotes to the Hockey Club (at least for this season).
The Blackhawks will also be featured on December 31st on TNT when they host the St. Louis Blues in the Winter Classic at Wrigley Field.
10 of the 15 games will be contests at the United Center. That includes Artemi Panarin coming back to the UC on January 5th with the game being on ABC.
November 6th will hopefully see Patrick Kane play in his second game back in Chicago where he became a legend. Kane returned to the rival Detroit Red Wings in the offseason. He stole the show in his return to the United Center last February when he scored an overtime goal on the night the Hawks retired Chris Chelios No. 7.
ESPN and TNT are hoping to draw viewers in based on the loyalty of Blackhawks fans and the star power of Connor Bedard.
Both networks are trying to cash in on key matchups with Bedard and other NHL stars. That includes the February 5th game against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers along with the April 8th game against Bedard's hero, Sidney Crosby, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
ESPN and TNT did a good job last season presenting the NHL, especially Bedard. Hopefully, Bedard avoids a major injury to be a part of these national television matchups. While the Hawks may have upgraded the roster, they will not be very entertaining if Bedard is on the shelf.
