It's Time to Extend Max Domi

With the recent flury of deals, our attention in the final 23 games will be on whom should be here next season. Max Domi should absolutely be on this club to start the 23-24 campaign. On a 68 point per 82 game pace, driving his own line, winning faceoffs (nearly 54%), and exceeding most expectations I believe he is a perfect stop-gap player to help out our young team.

Max turns 28 in a few days and is in the prime of his career. If Kyle Davidson could extend him 2 or 3 seasons with an AAV in the 4.5-5.5 million range than I'd be happy. It also affords the Blackhawks a player that will produce points that we can also have as a future asset at deadlines in the seasons to come.

From an off-ice entertainment standpoint as well I believe that Domi is an excellent interview and always has fun with the media and fans. As I see it there is not a lot of down side to extending Max as quickly as we can. He would be the top player for the Hawks going into next season.

I also think there is a benefit to keep him as he is a skilled player from the center position that could help young LW Lukas Reichel. Without Domi at center, I'm not sure that Reichel would find chemistry with anyone else that is currently on our roster. Of course, if the lottery balls fall our way, there is a guy that could also help out our young winger...
