After dispatching with the Iowa Wild 2-0, the Rockford Icehogs will begin their round 2 matchup on Friday at home against the Texas Stars. The Icehogs have a big advantage in the best of 5 series with 2 home games this week (Friday and Sunday) and could take a hold of the matchup before the weekend is over.

Lukas Reichel, despite being held scoreless in the 2 games against the Wild, will be the focus of the Stars defense. The Icehogs, however appear to have an edge in depth as they have 6 players at or above a point per contest in the playoffs. The Stars, while a veteran roster, did not have a point per game player in the regular season.

I expect a great series between the two clubs, but I do believe this is Rockfords' to lose as they seem to have all the early advantages. Prediction: 3 games to 1 Rockford wins. Go Piggies!
