Chicago Blackhawks Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is heading back to where he played for four years with the Vegas Golden Knights tonight. This game might not be a dream matchup for the struggling Blackhawks, but it is a must watch to see what Fleury does in his return.
Fleury spent four years with the Vegas Golden Knights, the first four years in franchise history for the Knights. He was a big part of building hockey in the new market and wasn't given the chance to play out his contract with the Knights, being traded this past offseason to Chicago.
Fleury opened up about his return before the game, this is definitely going to be a must-watch game for fans around the league. The Golden Knights' decision to move on from Fleury ultimately came down to needing more cap space. While hockey is a business, trading Fleury definitely did not send come across the right way to the hockey world.
Fleury won his 500th NHL game since leaving Vegas, but since then he has not been up to a lot. The Blackhawks have been playing some bad hockey as of late, as they cannot win a game even against the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes sit at the bottom of the league, and if it was not for Fleury the Hawks could very well be there.
Hopefully Fleury get's some revenge in his return to Vegas tonight. The Golden Knights have a good team and they are not going to be easy to beat, but the Hawks are hopefully going to do everything they can to get their star net minder a win against his former team.
This will be Fleury's third game since coming back from the COVID pause. Fleury missed a little time at the end of December with COVID, and hopefully he can return to his norm soon. During his first two games back he has given up nine goals and lost both games - against the Avalanche and Coyotes.
Puck drop is at nine PM between the Blackhawks and Golden Knights. Hopefully the two teams give us a good matchup!
