Next up on the “Meet The Prospects” series is forward Jakub Pour, from Czechia. He stands 6’3, weighs 198 pounds and just finished his first season of pro North American hockey in the AHL with the Rockford Icehogs, where he scored 8 points in 44 games. Pour is entering the second and final year of his entry level deal he signed with the Blackhawks, and will likely be given a larger role with the Icehogs this upcoming season.

Pour’s offensive numbers don’t stand out when you look at everything about him. What did catch the eye of the Blackhawks was his defensive play. He has been listed as a middle six forward who plays his role well, and could one day make an impact in the NHL as a bottom six forward.

“Ever since Dominik Kubalík started playing for the Blackhawks, I have been following the club in great detail, the whole organization seems very nice to me. Great players, traditions, great triumphs. I’m excited and looking forward to it.”

In the 2017-18 season, Pour was teammates with former Blackhawk Dominik Kubalik as they both played with HC Pilzen of the Czech league.

“In Chicago, I will do my best to fulfill my dream of playing in the NHL. I believe it will be sooner than later, but I will be patient. Whether the chance comes after a month or in the second year of the contract, I have to be prepared.”

It’s good Pour is willing to grind his way to the top, and isn’t expecting to be given his shot. I like a guy with that kind of attitude, and I’ll be keeping tabs on him in Rockford. I don’t expect him to be a leader as far as points go, but his defensive game will lead by example.
