Seth Jones is easily the 2021 MVP for the Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks traded for Seth Jones on July 23rd, 2021, when they sent Adam Boqvist, two first-round picks and a second to Columbus in exchange for Jones, a first and a sixth-rounder. The Hawks landing Jones might come at a bit of a high price depending on what happens with this year's first-round pick, but I am happy to see him succeed with the team thus far.
Jones is second on the team in points and first in assists with 20 on the season. He has three goals and has played in all 30 games for the team averaging north of 25 minutes a night. The Hawks defensemen is the top guy on the team and he will be for a long time.
Jones is the MVP of the year because while he the team has lost a lot of games, the defense really has not been the main issue and that starts with the top guy in Seth Jones. He is the main piece on the blue line and is only going to get better as time progresses.
If someone told me at the start of 2021 that we would end the year with Seth Jones as a Blackhawk, and that he would be one for a long long time I probably wouldn't have believed you. This guy is a beast on the ice, and he is going to become one of the all time greats for the team over the course of the next nine seasons.
With 23 points thus far I cannot wait to see what Jones does during the next 52 games of the season. There still is a lot of hockey to be played and as he gets more and more settled in with his new team and new system the future is only going to get brighter for the team's top defenseman.
CorsiJones has played the majority of his minutes with Calvin de Haan at five on five the pair have been on the ice for 295 minutes on the season through 26 games. They have a 47.36 corsi percentage during that time. He also has spent a lot of time with Gustafsson, McCabe, and Caleb Jones.
I cannot wait to see what this coming year has in store for Seth Jones and the Blackhawks. If they can find a way to win some games early this year then who knows, maybe this season is not over just yet.
