USA vs. Sweden for the Gold Medal at the World Juniors Starts Now!
Team USA is about to drop the puck with host country Team Sweden. The American team escaped yesterday against Team Finland 3-2 as Cutter Gauthier rifled a high glove side shot past the goalie on the power play. Finland aggressively played 6 on 4 in the final 2 minutes with a power play to try and tie it, but US goalie Trey Augustine made several big saves to nail down the win for the Americans.
Blackhawks prospects Oliver Moore, Gavin Hayes, Frank Nazar, and Sam Rinzel will all look to play big roles in todays (tonights) matchup for the gold medal. It won't be easy though, Sweden has excellent defensive depth, big and strong forwards, and an outstanding coaching staff. To say this is anyone's game is an understatement as if I were placing odds on this one I'd say it's 50/50.
Of note; team Czechia took Bronze this morning as they beat Finland 8-5.
Puck drop is in 15 minutes. Go USA! Will the Blackhawk's prospect take home gold or silver?
