Spencer Knight's latest milestone has only happened four times in modern Blackhawks' history

Spencer Knight has already proven he can be the long-term answer in the Chicago Blackhawks' net. Now, he moved one step closer to legendary status.

Spencer Knight has proven to be one of the Chicago Blackhawks' premier additions. He's the clear-cut number one goaltender in the Windy City, with 21 starts this season, a 10-6-5 record, a 0.916 save percentage, a 2.50 GAA, a 0.571 quality starts percentage, and two shutouts. Those are epic numbers, but Knight's latest shutout win put him in a rare club that includes just four Blackhawks goaltenders.

Following Chicago's win on Wednesday night, Bruce Miles of NHL.com reported, "Knight became the fifth Blackhawks goalie in the modern era (since 1943-44) to have multiple shutouts in a season at age 24 or younger. The others: Jocelyn Thibault (four in 1998-99), Harry Lumley (three in 1950-51), Michael Leighton (two in 2003-04) and Jimmy Waite (two in 1992-93)."

That's a good club to be part of, and it shows how much success Knight has had during his time with one of the NHL's fastest-rising teams. Even more impressive is that Knight pulled off this shutout win after the Blackhawks hit a speed bump that saw them go pointless in six of their last 10 games.

Spencer Knight joined some rare company with shutout win over the Rangers

Jocelyn Thibault spent most of his career with the Blackhawks, logging 137 wins, a 0.905 save percentage, a 2.62 GAA, and 28 shutouts. Eight of those shutouts came in 2002-03, when Thibault finished the year with a 0.915 save percentage and a 2.33 GAA. He also made the All-Star Game that season.

Harry Lumley spent just two seasons with the Black Hawks, collecting just 29 wins in 134 games. Despite the pedestrian number of wins and 3.63 GAA, Lumley still picked up five shutouts during his time in Chicago. The rest of Lumley's NHL career went much better, and he ended up in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Michael Leighton recorded three shutouts in just 42 games with the Hawks. While he finished with just an 8-21-10 record, he still ended his stint in Chicago with a respectable 0.902 save percentage and 2.95 GAA. Leighton returned to Chicago in 2015-16 and suited up for a game, snagging a 0.941 save percentage with 16 saves on 17 shots.

Jimmy Waite suited up for the Blackhawks in 58 games, collecting 14 wins, a 0.860 save percentage, and a 3.64 GAA. He'll never be remembered as a great netminder for the Hawks, but he played well enough to snag two shutouts during his time in the Windy City.

Spencer Knight will enjoy a longer, more successful career with the Chicago Blackhawks

Other than Thibault, few fans fondly remember the goaltenders listed above. As for Knight, he's already on the right track, with 36 starts and 15 wins following his stellar outing on Wednesday night. Throughout his time in Chicago, Knight has a 0.907 save percentage, a 2.78 GAA, two shutouts, and a 0.556 save percentage.

The Blackhawks also acquired him in the Seth Jones trade with the intent to make him their franchise goaltender. He's a young player manning the crease for one of the NHL's youngest teams and has solidified himself as part of the Blackhawks' core.

Knight won't turn 25 until Apr. 19, so he may have another shutout or two in him before then. If he keeps playing well, he could even help the Hawks become surprise playoff contenders when April rolls around.
