As an original six team entering its centennial season, the Chicago Blackhawks have scored a lot of goals over the years, and a few individual players have done a lot of their scoring.
There are a number of Blackhawks' greats who have found the back of the net over 250 times in their career with Chicago, and today we are looking at the top five best of the best.
The five leading goal scorers in Blackhawks history.
5. Denis Savard - 377
The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Denis Savard third overall in the 1980 NHL Draft. Savard would spend his first ten seasons in Chicago registering over 40 goals three times. Savard would return to Chicago in the mid-90s for his second stint with the team, but would register just 26 additional goals in three seasons.
Savard's signature spin-o-rama' move was the stuff of legends. When all was said and done not only did Savard get inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, but the Blackhawks retired his number 18 less then a year after he announced his retirement.
4. Steve Larmer - 406
Blackhawks' legend Steve Larmer left his mark on the Chicago Blackhawks during his carer. Drafted in the sixth-round of the 1980 NHL Draft, Larmer took home the Calder Trophy in 1983 during his first NHL Season.
In his first year, Larmer registered an impressive 43 goals, and 90 points—not bad for a late round pick. Larmer was a prolific power forward who registered 40 plus goals 5 times during his NHL career. Out of all the Hawks in the top five, Larmer is the one who often gets left out of major accolades from the organization and is without a doubt deserving a jersey retirement by the organization.
3. Patrick Kane - 446
It wasn't that long ago Patrick Kane was filling up the net in a Blackhawks uniform. No really, it was only three years ago. Kane, drafted first overall in the 2007 NHL Draft, registered 446 goals in a Blackhawks uniform playing 16 years with the team.
Obviously everyone knows about Kane's successes from the Stanley Cups to the Calder and Hart Trophy, but one thing that doesn't get enough discussion is where he sits on this list. Without a doubt as Kane entered his mid 30s with the Hawks he seemed interested in chasing records like this, and Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks traded Kane before he could accomplish that goal.
Kane has registered 46 goals with Detroit and New York over the past two and a half years, it will be interesting to see just how many goals he ends with.
2. Stan Mikita - 541
Stan Mikita is a Blackhawk who needs no introduction. He leads the Blackhawks in points, assists, games played, and so much more. He was the gold standard of a Blackhawks legend. Mikita's number 21 was the first number the Blackhawks ever retired and he formed an elite bond on the ice with the number one player on this list.
1. Bobby Hull - 604
Bobby Hull started his professional career in Chicago registering 604 goals in 1036 NHL Games with the Black Hawks. Hull registered at least 50 goals five times in his career with the Hawks and helped lead the team to their third Stanley Cup in franchise history in 1961.
Hull, known for his iconic slap shot, helped anchor in the NHL's first curved stick along with Mikita.
Hull's 604 goals is an impressive total that will be hard to break by any Blackhawk. Patrick Kane may have been on the way to accomplishing it but we will never know if he could have gotten the record. Now, all eyes are on Connor Bedard as he continues his NHL career—Bedard has registered 45 goals so far and has a lot of hockey ahead of him!
