The Chicago Blackhawks are planning to celebrate the team's centennial throughout the 2025-26 NHL Season—with the team including a variety of events to honor the history of the franchise, including the launch of a Hall of Fame.

Blackhawks fans may have noticed the team's official logo on social media and on the team website changed with the announcement of the franchise's centennial celebration. Now the Hawks logo includes a brown outline, a replica of the team's older design.

It seems likely the 2025-26 NHL Season will include some update uniforms for the Blackhawks. The NHL's partnership with Fanatics as the team's official jersey provider is now a year older, and with it comes the opportunity to launch some new jersey's around the NHL.

The Blackhawks centennial celebration should include the return of a black jersey for the team.

The Chicago Blackhawks have long wore red as their home jersey color, throughout almost the entire Toews and Kane era, the home reds have been a staple at the United Center. While the Hawks have had some unique jerseys over the year's courtesy of the winter classic, none beat the simple black jerseys the team used to wear.

In September 2023, Mario Tirabassi of CHGO reported that Danny Wirtz and Jamie Faulkner said that the black jerseys will be making a return to the ice, as a matter of when not if. While Hawks fans might have wished to see the black jersey sooner, the 2025-26 season seems like the perfect opportunity to bring them back.

Additionally, one of the leading voices on NHL jerseys, Icethetics reported in April the Blackhawks were set to have special home and third jerseys for the 2025-26 NHL Season. The addition of a third jersey makes it seem like a black jersey is all but guaranteed.

Blackhawks fans have already gotten the chance to see Connor Bedard in a retro black jersey. When the Blackhawks retired Chris Chelios' number 7 in February 2024, Bedard showed up to the rink wearing a Chelios jersey.
