Drew Commesso reminded Blackhawks fans just how valuable he can be.

Ever since the Blackhawks acquired Spencer Knight from the Florida Panthers, Drew Commesso elevated his game to new heights and continued to be the IceHogs most valuable player throughout the playoffs.

There seemed to be some uncertainty regarding whether or not he would be the Blackhawks' goalie of the future in the early parts of the season, but he showed his true potential after returning from an ankle injury in March. The 22-year old finished the season with a .911 save percentage and saw himself almost singlehandedly winning games for Rockford down the stretch.

In the playoffs, Commesso finished with a 4-3 record and a .926 save percentage with one shutout. Once healthy, he found his confidence and showed major improvements in his game that did not fade out in the postseason. His poise in net gave the IceHogs a chance to win in just about every game he played and has immediately garnered excitement from fans as they imagine a goaltending tandem of Commesso and Knight going forward.

The IceHogs saw positive results during these playoffs from some of their most relied upon players, but one thing the playoffs are always good for is finding players who make a name for themselves as unlikely performers. The Blackhawks back in their dynasty days saw this frequently with players stepping up to the occasion in big moments and proving their value in the most intense games.
