Samuel Savoie's worth ethic and grittiness could translate to the NHL.

During the IceHogs run, one prospect who truly stood out for their performance was Samuel Savoie. The 21-year old has drawn comparisons to former Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw ever since he was drafted for being a grinder who is always trying to get underneath the opponents skin and is not afraid to play a physical game or drop the gloves when needed to be a sparkplug for his team.

This season was Savoie's debut season in professional hockey where he posted 22 points in 72 games, but took his game to a new level during the playoffs with 6 points in 7 games. His play style is one where the offense has never been the main focus as he plays with the intensity and energy that shines through in high-stakes games and Savoie proved that theory for the IceHogs this Spring.

The speed and work ethic Savoie brings seems like he may get a chance to prove himself in the NHL someday and another season in Rockford could benefit his development going forward. However, his recent performance has without a doubt raised some eyebrows within the organization and his eventual NHL call-up may come sooner rather than later.
