All of the talk surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks and the Olympics has centered around Connor Bedard. After he was left off Team Canada, the debate has been whether or not he was snubbed. However, this debate has overshadowed the Blackhawks, who did make their respective Olympic rosters. The guys who will be heading to Milan to represent their country and look to bring home a medal.

One Blackhawk who is going to Milan this year is Teuvo Teravainen. He's set to make his Olympic debut for Team Finland in February. He'll join a roster filled with NHL stars like Mikko Rantanen, Sebastian Aho, and Miro Heiskanen. While Teravainen will not be one of the primary pieces for Team Finland, he will still play a significant role. But what will Finland ask Teravainen to do, and can it help them win a medal?

Teuvo Teravainen will be a nice complementary piece for Team Finland

This will not be the first time Teravainen will represent his home country. Just last season, he was part of Team Finland in the 4 Nation Faceoff, appearing in two games. While he did not register a point, it was a good trial run for what he will be asked to do during the Olympics. He has also appeared in two IIHF World Championships, racking up six goals and 19 assists over 15 games. This shows that Teravainen is capable of handling the speed of international hockey.

Teravainen's primary role will be to provide offensive depth for Team Finland. With the amount of star power that's on Team Finland, he will not be in the top six. He'll likely be a third- or fourth-line guy, similar to his role on the Blackhawks this season. He is a player Finland desperately needs. Someone who can generate offense when the stars are off the ice. Given how deep teams like Canada and the US are, Finland will need to get production from all four lines to have a shot at competing.

This season has proven that Teravainen can succeed regardless of where in the lineup he is. He has primarily been on the Hawks' third line this season. In 41 games, he has racked up nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points. He's been a threat from mid-range and long range. According to NHL Edge, he has 15 shot attempts for mid-range, which is the NHL average, and eight shots from long range, three more than the NHL average. This shows he can score from all over the ice.

Currently, Finland has the fourth-best odds to win the Gold Medal. This means they are a serious threat for the podium, but a bit of a long shot for the Gold. However, it would not take much for Finland to find itself in the Gold Medal game. If Teravainen can generate offense and the stars play like they are supposed to, we could see Finland fighting for the Gold.

He may not be the face of Team Finland, but Teravainen has a chance to be one of the unsung heroes. If Finland has any chance at winning a medal, they will need production from more than just their star players. They will need guys like Teravainen to step up and have a big tournament.
