Obviously a great deal of time is being spent talking about the Chicago Blackhawks third overall pick for the upcoming 2025 NHL Draft, but the Blackhawks actually have a handful of other potential selections to get excited about.

The Blackhawks enter the 2025 NHL Draft with ten draft picks, Chicago owns their own first, second, third, fourth, sixth and seventh round picks and also have additional picks in the first, second, fourth and seventh rounds.

Two firsts, two seconds, and an early third should make for a lot of excitement in the early rounds of the draft, with Round 1 Friday night before continuing on Saturday. Chicago landed the 2025 1st round pick from the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 2023 trade deadline deal that sent Sam Lafferty and Jake McCabe to Toronto in exchange for Joey Anderson and Pavel Gogolev. Chicago also sent a 2024 and 2025 fifth-round pick to Toronto, but also received a 2nd round pick in 2026.

The Blackhawks' second-round pick from the Dallas Stars also came to Chicago at the 2023 trade deadline, when the Hawks sent Max Domi and Dylan Wells to Dallas. Chicago received Anton Khudobin in the deal as well.

Chicago's fourth round pick from the New York Rangers came to the Blackhawks in the infamous Patrick Kane trade to the New York Rangers. Chicago's last pick, the 197th overall pick in the draft, was a recent addition from the Blackhawks' recent trade of Victor Soderstrom to the Boston Bruins.

The Blackhawks current selections may not be where the team actually picks.

If history has shown us one thing, it's that Kyle Davidson is no stranger to making some moves on draft day. Multiple times in the past few years, Davidson has moved around a few spots to make a selection he feels best serves the team. There is a good chance the Hawks do that again this year.

Maybe, Davidson and the Hawks package their late first-round pick and a second rounder to move up a few spots to the top 10 or top 15, or maybe the Hawks decide to deal the third overall pick, depending on who is available at that time.

It seems like Friday could be a very entertaining draft day, and the Blackhawks have the assets to make some moves.
