Which Blackhawks players will benefit the most from the addition of Patrick Kane?

Yesterday was 8/8, or as Chicago Blackhawks fans like to call it, "Patrick Kane Day." The city of Chicago loves Kane so much that they gave him his own holiday last year. This day hits much harder with "Showtime" back home where he belongs.

The addition of Kane is exciting in many ways for this Blackhawks team. Beyond the nostalgia of having such a franchise legend returning, it is the impact that Kane should have on this young team around him that is most exciting. Kane has always been a player who has been able to get the best out of his linemates throughout his storied career. Let's look at the players on this team that should benefit the most with the arrival of number 88 in town.

Connor Bedard

The first one is the most obvious: Connor Bedard. Kyle Davidson has long been searching for Bedard's wingman over the course of his first three seasons in the NHL. While Davidson may not have landed that long-term answer yet, Kane is the top stop-gap option that they could have realistically found in a dry 2026 free agent market.

Kane has all the tools in his game to be a perfect complement to Bedard when he comes back from injury. He is a creative playmaker who will be able to set up Bedard for plenty of Grade A chances throughout the game. He can process the game at a high level most cannot fathom, just like Bedard. The thought of what these two can do together on the ice is a scary one. It is a fantasy Blackhawks fans have long dreamed about. Soon, it will become a reality.

Frank Nazar

Much has been made about the potential impact Kane could have on Bedard's game. But there are a plethora of other young Blackhawks who should benefit from playing with him. Frank Nazar is chief among them. Nazar and Kane have already spent time developing chemistry together, practicing at Blackhawks Ice Center over the offseason. Nazar is a guy looking to take a step forward in his game this upcoming season in what will be his third year in the show. Kane may be that piece that can help Nazar reach that next level towards becoming the star he has the talent to become. The American duo will likely see their fair share of time together, especially while Bedard is out to begin the campaign.

Anton Frondell

Anton Frondell is a player Blackhawks fans should be fired up to watch this year. He impressed in his NHL debut at the end of last season. He will be counted on to help this team make a jump towards competing for the postseason. Frondell will have a lot on his plate at the onset of the year while Bedard is on the sidelines; he could be the squad's first-line center. What better player to be on his side in what will be his Calder-hopeful campaign than Kane? Kane should help take some of the pressure off Frondell to immediately become that top-six impact player that he is projected to become.

Roman Kantserov

Roman Kantserov is another skilled rookie that this Chicago fandom should be amped up for. Unlike Frondell, Kantserov will be thrown to the lions as he enters this season with zero NHL experience. However, he does carry three years of top-level competition in the Russian ranks on his resume. Past history is on Kane's side when it comes to gelling with KHL talent. When undrafted rookie Artemi Panarin joined the Blackhawks in 2015, he developed instant chemistry with 88. Can Kane do the same with Kantserov over a decade later?

Nick Lardis

Nick Lardis is an exciting youth talent that appears to be flying under the radar as the season approaches. Lardis and Kane share similarities in their upbringing to the big leagues. Like Kane, Lardis spent his junior career lighting up the OHL as he amassed 71 goals with the Brantford Bulldogs in the 2024-2025 season. Also like Kane, Lardis entered the fray as an undersized forward with concerns over whether his game would translate to the next level. Lardis has shown flashes thus far of a player who will thrive in the NHL. Kane has wisdom that he can provide to Lardis when it comes to making that transition work.

Tyler Bertuzzi

Tyler Bertuzzi is the first veteran on this list. He is the grizzled vet in this forward core, primed to play the most with Kane. This would make sense; Bertuzzi feasted in the high-danger areas last season as he led the Blackhawks with 32 goals. With Kane's creativity, Bertuzzi can simply position himself netfront for goals in the back-door slot. Kane has done well with players like this in the past; Artem Anisimov is a prime example. Bertuzzi is a guy who is well suited to stat-pad with Kane's ability to find cross-ice openings.

Bowen Byram

This one may seem out of left field, as Bowen Byram is a defenseman. The area where Kane should be of great service to Byram is on the power play. These two summer additions will be relied upon big time when it comes to turning around a Blackhawks power play that was brutal last year. It is the special teams where Kane can still work his magic just as well now as in his prime days. He has been able to develop strong chemistry with past Chicago defensemen, such as Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, and Brian Campbell. Perhaps he can do the same with Byram.
