Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans!
The Chicago Blackhawks summer is in full swing, and it seems like its been forever since the Chicago Blackhawks were on the ice in late April with the dreaded double post sending the Blackhawks off to the golf course.
Now the Chicago Blackhawks prospects will be taking the ice starting Sunday so at least we will see some Chicago Blackhawks hockey from some future Hawks. Prospects are fun to look at in hopes that they will one day be regular players in the lineup.
It’s crazy that two of the prospects that were excited in seeing a few years ago, became Stanley Cup Champions and then had to watch them go away in trades. The Brandon Saad trade still stings a bit because for his entire career in Chicago it was believed by most including myself that he was part of the core, yet the salary cap which have been an issue for the Hawks since 2010 cost them Saad and eventually Teuvo Teravainen.
There are players to watch at the prospect camp, but one has to assume that Nick Schmaltz will be the player that every Blackhawks fan will be watching to see if he’s got a shot in October to make the club out of training camp or if he will be a Rockford Ice Hog to start his NHL career.
