The Chicago Blackhawks have played 2 good periods tonight, and they lead 6-2 after 2 periods, but the story of the game so far is that rookie Alex DeBrincat has picked up his first career hat trick!

Alex DeBrincat has four points in the first two periods because he had an assist on Patrick Sharp‘s goal that broke a long goal less streak from #10.

After the assist, the goals started coming for DeBrincat.  He picked up his first of the night when Nick Schmaltz went behind the net and found #12 for a wide open goal. The thing you have to like about DeBrincat is the fact that he finds the soft spots in the defense.  He’s always making subtle moves to get open which is what a true sniper does to score goals.

The second goal for DeBrincat was a rebound after Patrick Sharp had done some good work behind the Hawks net and found Ryan Hartman in the slot.  Hartman fumbled the pass a bit, but he was able to get the puck on net and DeBrincat beat the Ducks defense to the spot and banged in the rebound for his second of the night.

The third goal was a pretty pass from Patrick Kane on a 2 on 1 from the Hawks blue line in.  The Hawks were on a powerplay and with the Ducks on an odd man break heading towards Corey Crawford the Hawks broke up the play and Kane found DeBrincat on the doorstep for the first career Hat trick for #12 or as everyone else says the Cat Trick!

I’ve been excited to see this kid play for almost a year now, and he seems to be improving each and every game, and tonight he gets in the Chicago Blackhawks record books with his first career hat trick! Hopefully this is just the first of many for the young sniper!
