The Chicago Blackhawks made it official today that they have recalled Vinnie Hinostroza up from Rockford. The move was widely expected after they placed Tanner Kero on waivers yesterday.

Ok, for weeks now we have been calling for the Chicago Blackhawks to recall Vinnie Hinostroza up from Rockford because A. how well he’s been playing in Rockford, and B. how much speed he has which is something the Chicago Blackhawks are lacking this season.

Before we get carried away about Hinostroza let’s look at his stats in Rockford.  He’s played in 23 games so far this season. He’s scored 9 times and dished out 13 helpers for 22 points.  So for starters let’s not think he’s going to show up on the third or fourth line and start lighting up the scoresheet.

When I think of Hinostroza, I feel like we are talking about Viktor Stalberg! He was a player that was very fast and could really disrupt the other team’s defense, but the results didn’t always show on the scoresheet behind his name.  The thing is if you throw someone out there with great speed, it forces the other team’s defense to worry about something else besides just the Chicago Blackhawks top two lines.

More from Blackhawks News

There have been stretches where the Chicago Blackhawks have looked great this season.  Even in the Washington Capitals game they were the dominate team for 37 out of the first 40 minutes, but it’s those 3 minute stretches that are killing them right now because unlike past seasons, they cannot routinely score enough goals to counterfeit those stretches.

Hinostroza isn’t going to be the guy who saves the season by himself, but if he can put enough pressure on the other teams defense, maybe Brandon Saad, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and even maybe Richard Panik can wake up their offensive game which could and should lead to more wins in the end for the Chicago Blackhawks.

We have been asking for this move for weeks, now it’s finally happened! Don’t let us down Vinnie!
