After not playing a home game at the United Center since December 17, the Chicago Blackhawks are back home to faceoff against the biggest surprise in the NHL this season, the expansion Vegas Golden Knights.

The Vegas Golden Knights have the best home ice advantage in the NHL, and it’s called Las Vegas!! They are an out of this world 17-2-1 on their home ice including a win over the Chicago Blackhawks back in November.

The thing about the Knight is they are still respectable on the road with a 10-8-2 record which is why they are the top seed in the Pacific Division and all of the Western Conference right now. The St. Louis Blues just ended their 8 game winning streak so they are headed to Chicago with the taste of defeat in their mouths so it’s time for the Blackhawks to pounce early on them tonight.

The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off possibly their best 60 minute game of the season Wednesday night in the Big Apple against the New York Rangers.  They played great in every asset of the game (except taking dumb penalties) and deserved the 5-2 outcome with a couple of empty net goals by Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane late.

One thing is for certain, don’t expect to see Richard Panik in the lineup for a while if the Hawks go on a hot streak.  He hasn’t scored in months while Vinnie Hinostroza looked fantastic on the top line with Brandon Saad and the Captain with a goal and a whole lot of pressure on the Rangers Defense all night long.

The Knights are coming off a loss last night, so the Hawks need to bring the full court forechecking pressure out in the first period, grab a lead and play like they did Wednesday night to grab their 2nd straight win in a row.

With the predictions, I did say that Patrick Kane would score very late, so I’m taking that as a correct prediction, and I had Jonathan Toews in three stars so I’m good right? Anyways, I’m back at it for tonight’s game!

Final Score Prediction

The Vegas team plays defense mucks up the neutral zone and will make a fun game of hockey pretty boring a la Barry Trotz coached teams.  The key to this being a fun game to watch is an early Hawks goal.  The Hawks fight hard in the first and hold on for a 3-1 win with a Patrick Kane empty net goal to seal the deal.

Three Stars Predictions

#3 Star- Duncan Keith– 1st Goal of the season!

#2 Star- Vinnie Hinostroza– 1 Goal 1 Asisst

#1 Star- Jeff Glass– 33 Saves
