The Chicago Blackhawks play the defending Stanley Cup Champions tonight for the sixth time this season. The Blackhawks’ last series against Tampa Bay ended up being pretty good for the Hawks, but since midway through their last matchup on March 7th, things have taken a bad turn for the Blackhawks.

Chicago was leading the Lightning 3-0 midway through the game, but these are the defending Stanley Cup Champions and no lead is safe for the Hawks. Tampa Bay ended up winning the game, and Chicago would go on to go 1-3-0 since being outscored 20-8 since then.

This is not the most dominant team the Hawks have had in the past ten years, but it is one of the youngest. This Hawks roster is young and still finding themselves. Maybe they benefitted from an extra day of rest since their last matchup on Monday.

The Lightning are only going to get better with time, as Nikita Kucherov is apparently skating and will be back when the season ends and playoffs begin. Stealing a point against this top team would be very helpful for the Hawks. In order to do it, they need to be defensively sound against the defending champs.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning expected lineups for tonight’s game.
