The Chicago Blackhawks are in Vancouver after traveling late-night after their loss to the Seattle Kraken. They will start the second half of their current six-game road trip at the Canucks tomorrow night. Meanwhile, a top insider commented on the length of Connor Bedard's next contract, while Roman Kantserov scored a highlight-reel goal.

Blackhawks Chirps

  • The Blackhawks couldn't overcome poor puck management, missed shots, and Joey Daccord in their 3-1 loss to the Kraken. Check out my late-night Postgame Musings for my takeaways.
  • The Blackhawks made another roster move before last night’s game, in addition to recalling Oliver Moore and placing Jason Dickinson on injured reserve. They also reassigned Landon Slaggert to the Rockford IceHogs. Moore was brought up to play, and with Jeff Blashill only using 11 forwards, sending Slaggert to play in Rockford was an easy decision. He missed a lot of training camp with an injury and hasn’t been able to catch up with his teammates. A stint with the IceHogs will let him rediscover what makes him an effective player.
  • Every Monday, we put out our Blackhawks Trends, where we look at three things that are trending up and three that are trending down. Two of our three downward trends from yesterday morning were no longer on the active roster by dinner time.
  • Frank Servalli discussed Bedard’s contract extension on Bleacher Report and mentioned that an eight-year deal might not be in the cards.
  • Kantserov scored his KHL-leading 14th goal of the season yesterday. We’ve seen him score goals in many different ways this season, but this one might be the one that gets Blackhawks fans most excited.
  • On this date in 1962, Bill Gadsby became the first NHL defenseman to record 500 career points. His milestone came with an assist in the Blackhawks' 3-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

NHL Chirps

  • The Dallas Stars will be hosting their second outdoor game in franchise history. The NHL announced on Monday that they will host a Stadium Series game on Feb. 20, 2027, at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys. Their opponent will be announced on a later date. The Stars also hosted the 2020 Winter Classic against the Nashville Predators at the Cotton Bowl.
  • Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery told reporters that forward Pierre-Luc Dubois will miss an “extended period” with a lower-body injury. His left knee buckled while taking a faceoff in Friday’s loss to the New York Islanders. The team is still evaluating the injury and is uncertain whether he requires surgery or not.
  • The Winnipeg Jets are activating captain Adam Lowry from long-term injured reserve. He is expected to make his season debut tonight against the Los Angeles Kings.
  • Top St. Louis Blues prospect Dalibor Dvorsky scored his first NHL goal last night. His tally was the first of three straight goals in the Blues’ 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Edmonton Oilers.
  • Speaking of comebacks, the Toronto Maple Leafs scored four third-period goals to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3. Their first three goals came in a span of 3:24. It was the Maple Leafs’ first three-goal, third-period comeback since March 19, 1977.
  • NHL Birthday Roll Call, Nov. 4: Howie Meeker and Dustin Brown.
