The Chicago Blackhawks have had many great goal scorers. They have also had some elite playmakers to set up those scoring chances.

The franchise has been around for 100 years, so it is no surprise to see so many legendary names ranked among the franchise's top 10 in assists. There are seven Hall of Famers on the list, and two are bound for the Hall of Fame once they retire. One player on the list should be in the Hall of Fame.

The legendary Stan Mikita leads the way

Mikita registered 926 assists playing for the Hawks from 1958-1980. It is easy to see why he picked up so many assists skating with fellow legend Bobby Hull. Hull is the franchise leader in goals.

Mikita could make plays for others.

Mikita's 67 assists during the 1968-69 season stood as a single-season franchise record until 1982. That broke the 62 assist mark he had in the 1966-67 season.

Before Patrick Kane arrived in town in 2007, an argument could be made that Mikita was the greatest Blackhawks player of all time with his 541 career goals. Points-wise, Mikita ranks first all-time in franchise history.

Kane is behind Mikita in assists

The debate of who was better between Kane and Mikita is usually one that comes down to generational viewpoints and how much emphasis playoff success should be put. Kane's case for being the best Blackhawk of all-time can be made with his outstanding playmaking ability.

He dished out 779 assists from 2007-2023. Kane probably would have been closing in on Mikita for second all-time in goals had he not been traded at the 2023 trade deadline.

Denis Savard ranks third and holds the single-season assist record

Savard broke Mikita's single-season franchise mark when he had 87 assists during the 1981-82 season. He matched that total during the 1987-88 season.

Savard also had 86 assists during the 1982-83 season.

Savard finished with 719 assists with the Blackhawks in a career that spanned from 1980 to 1990 and then a second tour from 1995 through 1998.

Hall of Famers are ranked four through six

Doug Wilson's 554 assists place him fourth all-time in franchise history. He also has the most assists for a defenseman in team history.

Bobby Hull is the team's all-time leader in goals, but he also holds the fifth-highest assist total in club history with 549 assists

Duncan Keith is about to go into the Hall of Fame. His 520 assists during his storied career with the Hawks are a huge reason why he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the next induction ceremony.

Steve Larmer should be in the Hall of Fame

A significant reason is the 517 assists he recorded while playing with the Hawks during the glory days of the 1980s and early 1990s. That puts him seventh on the team's all-time assist leaders list.

Larmer ranks fourth on the club's all-time goal-scoring list. It is a shame he still has not gotten the Hall of Fame call.

Three franchise legends round out the top 10

Jonathan Toews is eighth all-time in club history with 511. He should be a Hall of Famer once he officially retires from hockey.

Pierre Pilote is the third blueliner ranked in the top 10 with 400 helpers. That is good for ninth all-time in club history.

Chris Chelios rounds out the top 10 with 395. Pilote and Chelio are two defensemen who have been elected into the Hall of Fame and have their numbers retired by the Blackhawks.
