The Chicago Blackhawks fell to the Detroit Red Wings by a final score of 5-3 on Friday night. With the loss, the Blackhawks fell to 14-26-2 on the season and have now lost three of their last five games.

The Red Wings swept their season series against the Blackhawks. Detroit previously won 4-1 in Chicago on Nov. 6 before securing Friday's 5-3 victory in the Motor City.

The game began with former Chicago Blackhawks players making an impact.

Patrick Kane delivered with a well-placed pass to Alex DeBrincat, who scored to give the Red Wings a 1-0 lead.

Chicago responded with a goal from Ryan Donato off a cross-ice pass from Connor Bedard. The assist extended Bedard's point streak to nine games. The first period ended with the score tied 1-1.

The second period was a challenge for the Blackhawks, as they were outshot 17-2. Lucas Raymond scored on the powerplay 41 seconds into the period to give Detroit a 2-1 lead. Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane picked up the assists.

It was very shocking how the Hawks weren't down 5-1 at their point.

Petr Mrazek made some key time saves to keep the Hawks in the game as the period ended with the Red Wings maintaining their one-goal lead.

In the third period, Andrew Copp extended Detroit's lead to 3-1 five minutes in. Erik Gustafsson set up the goal with a beautiful pass from below the left circle.

Two minutes later, Albert Johansson scored his first NHL goal off of a backhand pass from Lucas Raymond, pushing the Red Wings' lead to 4-1.

Chicago rallied back with two goals from Teuvo Teravainen, scoring 6:50 apart. Both of his goals made it a one-goal game with 2:54 remaining in the game.

However, Marco Kasper sealed the win for Detroit with an empty-net goal, making it 5-3.

Despite the loss, Petr Mrazek had an outstanding performance, particularly in the second period, where he kept the Blackhawks in the game. Mrazek finished with 23 saves.

Longtime Blackhawk Patrick Kane shined for Detroit, recording three assists. Alex DeBrincat also had a strong game, notching one goal and one assist.

The Blackhawks will look to bounce back on Saturday as they face Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
