The 2024-25 NHL season is just over a month and a half away, and it could not come any sooner. Many teams are coming into the season with revamped rosters and higher expectations than last year, making fans eager to see their favorite teams take the ice. The Chicago Blackhawks are one of those teams who were active throughout this offseason with a goal of making a more competitive on-ice product.

While the season is set to begin on October 8th, 2024, teams will begin training camp a few weeks beforehand. The Blackhawks training camp begins on September 18th, and there will be some interesting storylines to follow.

After finishing 31st in the NHL standings during the 2023-24 season, the Blackhawks made it their goal to begin taking steps forward as a team. Through trades and free agent signings, the Blackhawks added quality NHL skill to their roster, highlighted by the return on Tuevo Teravainen.

The Blackhawks not only added through trades and free agency, but continued to stock their prospect pool with three selections made in the first round of the NHL draft. Among those draft picks, the Blackhawks drafted defenseman Artyom Levshunov with the second-overall selection. Levshunov signed his entry-level contract with the Blackhawks soon after being drafted, meaning he will not be returning to Michigan State in the NCAA and will turn pro.

There will be a lot to look forward to in this year's training camp for the Blackhawks. Watching the young talent and seeing how they've progressed will be a highlight as it gives fans an idea of what kind of talent could be coming in the near future.

Given the amount of NHL talent added to the roster this summer, the Blackhawks may find themselves having to make some tough decisions in order to finalize their opening night lineup. This could make for some interesting battles between players looking to solidify a spot on the Blackhawks roster.

Training camp is always an exciting time to follow storylines about one's favorite teams, and there is going to be a few worth keeping an eye on for the Blackhawks as their camp approaches.
